I come across so many interesting names that grandmothers are called by their grandchildren. Through contact with grandmothers, I have heard: Mimi, Mawmaw, Memaw, Gram, Gramma, Noni, YaYa, Nene, Grandmo, Susu, Gran, Granny, Nana, Nanny, Grandma, Mom, Momma, Mommy, and the newest one I have is Kaala (grandmother in Crow), a grandmother from Louisiana. Those are just a few of the names I have received from grandmothers who are raising their grandchildren.
It is fun to learn of all of the variation of names for grandmothers. Back when I was young, we were so formal. It was simply Grandma Best or Grandmother Wright.
