When I was raising my own children (all 8 of them), I often had people ask me if I had help, meaning help with cleaning and childcare. I was a stay-at-home mother with a husband in the military. I would just laugh, "You've got to be kidding!" I couldn't afford to hire help. I was it, along with trying to get my kids to help. I was in the same situation when I was raising grandchildren. Did I have help with cleaning? Oh how I wished. I couldn't believe people would even ask that question. I guess I did a fairly decent job keeping things clean.
As long as I had the proper cleaning tools, such as a commercial size mop bucket and mop, I did everything myself. I might hire someone to clean the carpets, unless I rented a steam cleaner and did that myself too. I admit, a professional carpet cleaning service did know more about how to remove stains in my carpets than I did. Honestly I detest carpet. I much prefer hardwood floors. Fortunately, when I was raising my grandchildren, our entire farmhouse (except for the guest bedroom) had hard floors. However, for some reason, my commercial mop bucket stayed in the barn. I was exhausted, so I went the easiest way I could, a simple vacuum and swiffer mop. As far as hiring someone to help me, I still laugh at that.
